God Is Mindful of the Desires of Our Hearts
Last night we received a piece of news that filled our hearts with joy. A precious couple in our church is expecting a baby. For many, that announcement might simply sound like happy news — but for those who know their story, it feels like a miracle.
This couple has walked through deep valleys. They have carried burdens that only God truly understands. There have been tears, prayers, waiting seasons, and moments when the road surely felt long. Yet through it all, they remained faithful to the Lord.
And now, God has answered.
Moments like this remind us that our God truly is mindful of the desires of our hearts.
The Bible says:
Psalm 37:4
“Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.”
This verse does not mean life will always be easy, nor does it promise that every prayer is answered in the way or timing we expect. But it reminds us that God sees us. He knows the quiet prayers we whisper, the tears we cry, and the longings we carry deep within our hearts. Sometimes the answer comes quickly. Other times it comes after seasons of waiting. But God is never unaware of our pain or our hopes.
The Psalmist also reminds us:
Psalm 113:9
“He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the Lord.”
Throughout Scripture we see story after story of God stepping into what seemed impossible. Women who had lost hope were suddenly holding the promises of God in their arms. What man called impossible, God turned into testimony. And hearing these testimonies strengthens our faith. It reminds us that the God we serve has not changed.
Hebrews 13:8
“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”
The same God who opened Sarah’s womb, who heard Hannah’s desperate prayer, and who worked miracles throughout Scripture is still working today. He still sees His children. He still hears every prayer. He still moves in ways that leave us in awe of His goodness.
When we hear stories like this, it stirs something beautiful within our hearts. It reminds us that God is still writing miracles in the lives of His people. It strengthens those who may still be waiting and encourages those who may feel weary.
The prophet Jeremiah wrote:
Lamentations 3:22–23
22) “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
23) They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”
Truly, great is the faithfulness of our God.
I never grow weary of hearing the testimonies of what the Lord has done. Every miracle, every answered prayer, every unexpected blessing reminds us that God is still working behind the scenes in ways we cannot always see. And sometimes, when the waiting has been long and the heartbreak has been deep, the miracle shines even brighter.
What a joy it is to celebrate with those whom God has blessed. Their story becomes a reminder to all of us: God has not forgotten His people.
He is mindful.
He is compassionate.
He is faithful.
And He still performs miracles today.
